Does Titanium Cookware Work on Induction?

Why titanium alone does not guarantee induction compatibility and how to verify a pan’s base before buying.

Some titanium cookware works on induction and some does not. Compatibility depends primarily on the finished base construction, not the marketing name of the cooking surface.

Induction needs a responsive magnetic base

An induction hob creates a changing magnetic field that heats compatible cookware. Pure titanium is not strongly ferromagnetic, so a thin all-titanium camping pot should not be assumed to work. Household titanium-surface pans commonly add magnetic stainless steel to the base or exterior.

Current examples

Our Place explicitly lists its Titanium Pro pans as compatible with all cooktops, including induction, and identifies a stainless-steel exterior. Taima lists the current Nutri-Pan Pro as induction-ready. Hestan NanoBond and Heritage Steel Titanium Series are also sold as induction-compatible stainless constructions. Check the exact size and model rather than extending one product’s specification to an entire brand.

The magnet test

For cookware you already own, place an ordinary magnet against the flat bottom. Strong attraction is a useful sign that the base contains induction-responsive material. It is not a complete performance test: base diameter, flatness and the cooktop’s minimum pan-detection size also matter.

Questions before ordering

  • Does the exact product page explicitly say induction compatible?
  • What material is on the exterior base?
  • What is the diameter of the induction-responsive area?
  • Is the bottom flat, and does the warranty cover warping?
  • Does your cooktop require a minimum vessel diameter?

Why heating can still vary

A compatible pan can heat unevenly if its conductive core is thin or does not extend up the walls. Aluminum-core thickness and whether the construction is fully clad often tell you more about heat distribution than the titanium label.

Sources

Bottom line: Titanium cookware works on induction only when the finished pan includes an induction-responsive base or exterior. Do not infer compatibility from titanium alone.
